My story

This is my story in a nutshell. I moved from Southern Orange County where the beaches are nice and the girls are even better : ) too Mammoth Lakes CA, too pursue a dream of snowboarding, skiing and going to school full time, But those dreams were crashed on September 4th 2010, I had a pretty bad accident that I'm sure has changed my life completely ever since. So lets start with the beginning during this past winter I worked part time for my brother at his warehouse and at my brother-in laws work for a while I loved both jobs and they paid really well but in the back of my mind I was always on the mountain. I would go snowboarding on average about 3 times a week even sometimes everyday of the week after or before I started work. I loved every second I was on the mountain and it became my only passion in life and still really is. So when I found out that I could live in mammoth and go to school full time I about pissed my pants in joy! So my friend Brian and I started researching and ended up moving there early august to go to school and shred! That summer I worked and skateboarded everyday looking forward too hitting POW and jumps all day in mammy(Mammoth) I would skate a lot mainly just to get my motions in and stay loose and hoping I would have better board control in the long run and don't get me wrong it's not like I am a total rookie at skateboarding I was fairly new to the park scene but when it came too bombing down hills I was pretty much an expert my whole senior year of high school until I had a compound fracture of my Fibula I had 2 plates and 12 screws put in that year and told myself I should probably stick to snow if I want to bomb hills haha! So I stopped skating hills and just started hitting up the park doing laps all day, everyday about 1 and half years later. I easily adjusted to the park and it, like snowboarding became an everyday habit of mine.

When Brian and I moved up too mammoth we got a pretty sweet condo filled with a pool,Jacuzzi and a sauna. We were pretty stoked on the whole situation our days would consist of skating going to school skating going to school and drinking a beer or two and playing Call of Duty it was a pretty simple life and we were totally content with that. We were probably skating 5 hours a day almost everyday the parks vert sections is super flow and you could find endless transitions and laps for days! But little did I know that skating would be the downfall of me once again.

This is the cradle at Volcom Brothers skate park, this is what I broke my leg on..... The day I broke my leg I was pushing myself all day to go past the top volcom sticker that you can see in the top picture, these picture were taken about 2 weeks before my accident so I had excelled at getting vertical and getting out of it cleanly. I just remember this one guy telling me to just get a little more speed and come in at more of an angle and I listened but I ended up shooting out of the cradle way to fast and hit the hip that was to the right of it and manueled out of it which made my left leg slip off the tail of the board and plant at probably 30 MPH making my leg snap in half. Seconds after I fell I knew it was bad cause I tried to get up and my leg dangled too the side, I almost felt like my foot touched my knee cap when I did that. I immediately called for my friend Brian and told him to call an ambulance cause at that point I knew that that was the only way for me too get out of that steep pool safely. I was in an extreme amount of pain considering when I put my leg back down it was sideways almost like an L shape. Your probably gonna think I'm ling but no tear was shed but a lot of F***s came out of my mouth and thank god there was a guy name Alex there who sat by me and gripped my hand while I waited for the ambulance. At one point I asked Alex if I had pissed my pants and he looked down with a disgusted look on his face and said no, I then looked down too see in my horror that blood was gushing out of my leg. Finally the ambulance arrives and they put the IV in me and it was steady sailing after that, if you ever break something pretty bad just know that the second you get morphine all the pain goes away at one point they were cutting off my shoe while I was still laying at ground zero and I laughed and told them that those were my good shoes morphine works miracles. As soon as I got to the hospital I was rushed into emergency surgery to set my leg. Not going to lie I was pretty scared since I was all by myself but my mom courageously drove to mammoth that night with my dad after getting bit by a dog and getting 20 stitches in her hand. I must say September 4th was quite the day for my family and friends and a day that I will never forget.

I was definitely a happy camper for sure! Being in the hospital can do some work on your mind, but its not half bad my nurses were extremely nice and at the end I considered them family especially Dorey : ).
